 June 23, 2008 - In support of the global awareness event initiated by TNT and Unilever, for the benefit of the UN World Food Programme, "End Hunger: Walk the World", the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Makati-Philippines, led by its President Jay Santiago, donates and makes official its support for WFP to help raise funds and public awareness to feed as many as 59 million children around the world, who attend school hungry. JUNE 1: GLOBAL WALK TO END CHILD HUNGER
MANILA – Thousands of people – many of whom can no longer afford basic food at their local markets – will join the UN World Food Programme (WFP) and its major corporate partners, in a global walk on June 1 to raise awareness and funds to feed poor children in school.
"End Hunger: Walk the World" supports WFP efforts to provide school meals to the 59 million children who attend school hungry every day – a critical safety net to poor families who desperately need help in this time of hardship.
